Freelance writer Alena Papayanis is teaching a one-hour class on getting your personal essays published in popular publications.

Alena will be giving a short presentation on the basics of pitching personal essays, including:

  • Finding the right publication
  • What to expect after submissions
  • Perfecting your pitch

These practical tips for beginners will demystify the process and get you started on your path to publication in a competitive market.

There will be plenty of time for discussion, and questions, after Alena’s initial presentation.

Alena has the experience to back up her teaching. She’s been published in HuffPost Personal, Chatelaine, Refinery29, FASHION, and other publications. She was also long-listed for The International Amy McRae Award for Memoir. She is also a Professor of Arts and Humanities at Humber College.
