The short presentation will introduce you to the basics of pitching personal essays to popular publications, including what editors are looking for, finding the right publication, what to expect after submission, and most importantly, perfecting your pitch. These practical tips for beginners will demystify the process and get you started on your path to publication in a competitive publishing market.

Alena has published in HuffPost Personal, Chatelaine, Refinery29, FASHION, and other publications. She was also long-listed for The International Amy McRae Award for Memoir. She is also a Professor of Arts and Humanities at Humber College.
