  1. Viator, a Tripadvisor company, is a marketplace for travel experiences. They’re seeking roundups, guides, features, tips, and essays. According to their pitch guide, their rates begin at $290. 
  1. Condé Nast Traveler is a travel magazine that offers travel news, reviews, ideas, guides, and tips. They’re published by (arguably) the most successful magazine company in the world. They accept pitches for several of their franchises and subject areas, as Women Who Travel and Destination Guides. According to their pitch guide, rates start at $300 for 500 to 600 words. 
  1. Going offers cheap flight deals. They regularly seek calls for pitches on a variety of travel related topics. According to their write for us page, their rates range from $250 to $400.
  1. Resonate is an online travel publication. They publish local stories from around the globe. The type of articles that they look for are: destination guides (1,500-2,000 words); burning issues (600-1,000 words); game changers (600-1,000 words); local stories (600-1,000 words); and travellers’ tales (600-1,000 words). According to their writers guidelines, they pay €100 for these pieces. 
  1. Hidden Compass is a literary travel magazine, published online. They want true stories that push “the travel genre and delve into the spirit, culture, history, ecology, perils or residents of a place. They want “all the nuanced, narrator-driven, non-listicle stories that need to be told. We want a tribe of storytellers who journey together.” According to their pitch guide, they pay $550 for all stories, plus 50% of fundraising proceeds. They pay an additional $75 per photo. 
  1. RV Magazine offers ideas, inspiration, and information about the RV lifestyle. They publish around ten to fourteen freelance articles per month. According to their writers guidelines, payment ranges from $200 to $800, depending on the department. Visit the website here.
  1. Transitions Abroad publishes articles on “travel, work, study, living, and volunteering abroad.” They want practical information gained from first-hand experience. According to their writers guidelines, they pay up to $150 an article. 
  1. Horizon Guides is a travel website that publishes “in-depth travel guides and long-form features that cover a particular aspect of a destination or a new way of looking at otherwise familiar places.” According to their pitch guide, they pay £400+ for guides and £200+ for features.
  1. Via Magazine is a magazine and website that serves AAA (American Automobile Association) members in nine western states. They offer travel tips and inspiration. They also offer practical life advice about managing your money, living well at home and away, and taking care of your house and car. According to a deleted tweet, they pay $200 to $500 per piece, and according to an old payment report, they pay $0.50  per word. To pitch, refer to this page.
  1. TripSavvy is “a travel site written by real experts, not anonymous reviewers.” They are always seeking experienced and qualified digital travel writers. According to an old tweet by their previous editorial director, they pay $150 to $400 per story. They don’t accept unsolicited guest-authored articles. To learn more, visit this page.
